Frequently Asked Questions

What is the goal of ADHD Coaching?

The goal is you reaching your goals!  We partner to:
determine what your goals are, how to create plans and actions based on your strengths and develop a plan that works for you.

Who do you work with?

Individuals and others effect by ADHD. This can be family members, friends, teachers, employers. A person doesn’t have to have ADHD to benefit from ADHD coaching. I help people better understand the ADHD brain and give them tools to help someone with ADHD succeed.
I work with students, young adults and adults from many different backgrounds.

How is ADHD coaching different than therapy?

They overlap in several ways, but the main differences are:
Therapy focuses on mental health and healing, looking at the past and present. Coaching focuses on setting and achieving goals, empowerment and improving the current situation. Its is more “How?’ oriented than “Why?’.

How long does coaching last?

Most clients start with 5 or 6 months but return to coaching when facing a life changing new situation in their life, such as a marriage, graduating, moving, having a child, changing jobs.

What do we talk about?

The client determines the agenda and topic for each session. Sometime we work on the same goal for a few weeks and other times it is a new topic for the next session.
Goals range from broader subjects like creating a successful plan for success in school or preparing to seek new employment and sometimes the goals are very specific like organizing  an office space or figuring out a sustainable plan to get the laundry done.

Where and do we meet?

I work with people in person who live near to me, but I also coach people via calls or zoom.  No way is better than the other. It’s based on what is best for the client.

How do I find out more about ADHD coaching to see if its right for me?

I offer a complimentary information session. I’ll tell you more about the coaching process and answer any questions to help you decide if ADHD coaching is right for you. Since ADHD coaching is highly personal, if you don’t feel that we are a good fit, I am happy to refer you to another experienced ADHD coach. Please let me know a little bit about you on the contact form.
